About
Most people who know me, know I am a true “Kirkland Girl” and I really enjoy being involved in our community. While I secretly know it certainly isn’t true (yet), I’ve often been chided for knowing simply EVERYONE in Kirkland. I will admit that I find it strange to be in a different city and be able to walk down an entire street without seeing anyone I know or stopping to chat. But the “neighborhood-friendly” culture we have is one of the things I enjoy the most about living here.
“Connected in Kirkland” is my way of helping people feel more connected in our community by giving us a way of getting to know the many fascinating, talented and colorful people in our town. The blog is meant to be an entertaining and informal resource to share their stories with others in Kirkland (and beyond) so that our community can feel even more “Connected” to each through knowing a little something about the people around us.
About me: I was born in what is now the Amazon.com building in downtown Seattle, and grew up here in Kirkland, proudly attending Helen Keller, John Muir, Kamiakin and Juanita High School. After graduation I moved to Bellingham and attended Western Wa. University and then stayed there until February of 2002 when I moved back to the “big city.” I’d originally intended to move to the Seattle side, but after being in Bellingham for so long it was just too much of a “shock!” I found my way back to Kirkland, and I expect I’ll be here for many years to come – especially after marrying my husband Mike Metteer, who is probably even MORE entrenched in Kirkland than I am!
After enjoying a career in marketing, design, event management, and my most recent position at the Kirkland Downtown Association, I have discovered my new passion as a real estate agent in Kirkland with TEC Real Estate. I really feel that I’ve “found my calling” and I’m looking forward to helping as many people as possible find and sell their homes in the Kirkland area through my venture called “Your Agent Betty” launching January of 2010.
I am always excited to receive new suggestions of people who you might think would be interesting interviews. Please email me at JulieMetteer@comcast.net I look forward to meeting many new folks for the life of this blog. Thanks for visiting!
